The Tallest Agas-agas bridge in Southern Leyte Philippines
Today we will visit one of the highest bridges here in the Philippines, the Agas-agas. It is located in Sogod Southern Leyte.
This bridge is so amazing that you feel like you are in a cloud because of its height.
From the town of Palo, travel for one hour to the Boundary province of Leyte and the province of southern Leyte.
From the Boundary Leyte, drive for a few minutes to the Agas-agas bridge where you can see the tallest bridge in the country.
You can’t help but stop at this bridge during your trip, because the views you’ll see are really beautiful.
How high is the Agas-agas bridge
The Agas-agas bridge found in Barangay Kahupian has a 350 meter linear bridge( 1,150 feet ) and 89 meter heigh ( 292 feet). The central span of this structure is 177 meters and (581 feet) and the length supported by two piers measuring 73 meters is (240 feet). From the ground is 75 meters with (246 feet).

The Agas-agas bridge has become a tourist destination in Southern Leyte because of its unique appearance.
This bridge is so high that it is scary to drive, especially if you are a novice driver, if you make one mistake you will definitely fall off this bridge and you will definitely not survive because it is so high.
Is the road to Agas-agas Bridge good?
Yes, the roads in Leyte to Agas-agas Bridge are good, but be careful when driving because we cannot avoid accidents.
It’s just so amazing to look at that you wouldn’t think there was such a long bridge like this in the Philippines.
When was the Agas-agas Bridge built?
The Agas-agaw bridge was built in 2006 at a cost of 1.024 billion pesos. Before this bridge was built, there was a road under the bridge that often had landslides. They built this bridge for the safety of road users
In 2011 this bridge was opened to the public and became one of the tourist spots in southern Leyte.
And they are not wrong because people actually come here just to see this bridge.

Here is also one of the longest ziplines in the Philippines with a length of 880 meters just next to the Agas-agas Bridge.
When you are on the zip line you will see the amazing views below that really melt away the stresses. For those who are afraid of heights, you can enjoy other attractions in the area, you can also enjoy the beautiful breeze.
This 800 meter zipline over the top of the mountain in a beautiful valley leads to a beautiful landing.
How much are zip lines rides in Agas-agas?
- one way zip line cost 350 pesos
- If you want to go back using zip line again, you well pay 250 pesos
It’s definitely worth all the effort and expense you spend going to Agas-agas because the place is really beautiful.

How to get there from Tacloban
From Tacloban you will take a Van to Maasin Southern Leyte. Just tell the driver that you are getting off at Mahaplag crossing and you will pay the van 150 pesos only (trip time 1 1/2 hours). From Mahaplag crossing you will ride a (Habal – habal) motor going to Agas-agas bridge.

This restaurant is one of the closest to Agas-agas bridge, their food is delicious and worth the price.
What I liked the most about this resturant was their twin burger, Carbonara, banana chips and my favorite of all was the fresh fruit smoothie.
Make your life meaningful, enjoy it because things will come and time will also get old and we won’t be able to go to the places we want to visit.
