How to cook Korean Soybean Sprouts( Kongnamul ) with egg
Today we will cook a Korean food soup that they usually eat when the weather is cold or rainy. I learned how to cook it because of my Korean acquaintance who has been living in the Philippines for a long time.
Kongnamul soup or Korean Soybean sprout is a very healthy food, it is also one of the things that can get rid of hangover when you drink a lot of alcohol.
There are many things you can do in cooking bean sprouts (Kongnamul) such as salad spicy, salad not spicy, Kongnamul Kimchi soup and many others.
I will teach you how to cook another dish using Korean Soybean sprout in my next blog. But today I will teach you how to cook Kongnamul soup with egg using it.
Koreans cook this when they celebrate the death anniversary of their loved one.

How to cook Korean Soybean Sprouts( Kongnamul ) with egg
It’s super easy to cook. Last night this was one of the soups I cooked so I thought I would blog today. It only takes me 20 minutes to cook it.
What are the Ingredients of Korean Soybean Sprouts (Kongnamul)
- 120 g / 4.2 soybean sprouts ( Kongnamul)
- 4 to 5 cups of Korean soup stock o “ Dashi“
- 1 spoon of garlic chop
- 1 spoon of fish sauce
- Half spoon of Salted fermented shrimps ( If you don’t have at home,you can still cook without this )
- Salt & Dasida or 1 teaspoon of ajinomoto if you don’t have dasida in your house. Additional flavor to the soup .
- 2 egg
- Onion leeks slanting thin cut
For those who don’t know what Dashi stock is, it is a dry anchouvy and dried dasima boiled in water for 10 minutes and its broth is the one to put in Soybean Sprouts.
If you don’t have it at home, you can still cook it using only garlic to add flavor to the soup

I made my parents taste it during my last vacation and they really liked it. They say that when you bite into it, it’s crunchy because of the soybean sprout seed that you can see on top of it.

You can buy Soybean Sprout (Kongnamul) at Korean stores in the Philippines or at SM Super Market.
How to keep Soybean Sprouts Kongnamul fresh
- When you buy it, you should check if it’s still fresh inside.
- Don’t buy too much Kongnamul because it goes limp quickly.
- If you buy and you are not going to cook it today, don’t wash it.
- Put it in black plastic so it doesn’t go limp.
- Put it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
