Calle Crisologo : Why is it a Good Place to Visit?
Today we will go to a famous sight in Vigan City, it is the Calle Crisologo street where the ancient history of the Spaniards in the Philippines can be seen.
I have only been to this place once with my friends and their children. We had a great day here because we had so many experiences.
So we thought to go because that time we were in Baguio City . One of our colleagues went straight to Vigan City. To taste the famous Sausage and visit Calle Crisologo.
Although it is far from the Baguio City which takes more than 4 hours to get here, we do not regret visiting.
After all, we are from Quezon City and if we consider the time, our trip will take more than 7 hours.
We have our own car so it is not difficult for us to commute. The only thing we used to find the place was Waze which gave us no problem even though the place was very far away.
How to Get There by Commuting
- From Manila you will take a bus from Partas Terminal Cubao to Bantay Vigan. You will pay between 700 and 1000 pesos depending on the bus you ride. Travel time is 6 hours and 57 minutes depending on the traffic.
- You can also take a taxi but it will cost more up to 7,500 pesos.
Calle Crisologo : Why is it a Good Place to Visit?
Why is it a good place to visit? For those who don’t know, the City of Vigan is a 4th class town located in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is also known for the well-preserved beauty of the Spanish colonial town in the country.
Calle Crisologo offers a comfort that is very different from the cities we often associate with.
Aside from the nationally known Calle Crisologo, the area is also known for its delicious food and Vigan’s historical background. It is a popular place in Northern Luzon for tourists.
The only thing that was not good about our going here was that it was raining very hard that time and the road was very muddy. But we still enjoy Calle Crisologo even when it rains ahahaha
When we arrived in Vigan, we looked for a hotel to stay near Calle Crisologo within walking distance.
Since we were all very hungry, we looked for a place to eat right on Calle Crisologo.
We had a bit of a hard time finding it because we are new to the area and we are all first timers here. So we asked where there was a good restaurant.
The person we asked pointed us to the Uno Grille restaurant which can be found right on Calle Crisologo. Their food is delicious and worth the price. We are happy that we ate here.
After we ate, we boarded a carriage that took us around Calle Crisologo. It was a beautiful ride even if it was raining at that time.
The carriage ride on Calle Crisologo is 150 pesos each for about 30 minutes around the plaza.
It was also my first time to ride a carriage because what I often ride since I was a child is the horse itself. So I was very happy when I was riding we only rode for 30 minutes.
Things to do here
- Take a meaningful picture
- Visit traditional shops
- Ride a horse-drawn carriage
- Visit the Syquia Museum
- Take a walk at night
A happy memory that I will never forget my experiences in Vigan City. If you want to travel further, it’s better to go to Banaue Rice Terraces because it’s close to the place, about 4 hours drive to get there.
During our stay in Vigan City for 2 days, we visited other tourist spots, this is the Dancing Fountain which is also one of the famous attractions.
Dancing Fountain
It is located in Plaza Salcedo Luneta Park Musical Dancing Fountain which is only 4 minutes drive from Calle Crisologo.
It’s great to go here to the Dancing Fountain, especially if you go at night around 7:30 pm because this is when they start and you can really see the beautiful Dancing Fountain lit up. .
Crisologo Museum
The next thing we went to was the Crisologo Museum. It has interesting pictures personal effects and antique furniture. It also has an impressive collection of indigenous Filipinos.
It is located at Reyes St, Vigan City. It is very close to Calle Crisologo which is only a four minutes walk. There is no entrance fee either, you just have to make a donation upon entering so it’s really up to you how much you give.
Metropolitan Cathedral of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle
we went to the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle which is also a popular tourist destination.
St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral also known as Vigan Cathedral is a magnificent historical site in Vigan. It’s also close to Calle Crisologo, a 6-minute walk.
Baluarte Resort and Mini Zoo
We also did not skip the Baluarte Resort and Mini Zoo because we also love animals and nature.
It is very beautiful here you can see many amazing animals. They are open Monday through Sunday 8 am to 5 pm with their last entry being 4 pm. The Entrance fee is also very cheap at only 75 pesos.
The good thing is that it is also close to Calle Crisologo, only 11 minutes drive. It is located at Quirino Boulevard, Tamag, Vigan City.
Plaza Burgos
It is one of the two main plazas in Vigan. It was built to commemorate the martyrdom of Father Jose P Burgos which is now known as empanadah.
It is located in Florentino St, Vigan City which is just a four minute walk from Calle Crisologo. Don’t miss it, guys, because it’s also a nice place to visit and there are vendors nearby selling food.
Hidden Garden
For those who love plants, this is also one of the best places to visit because the beauty of this place is so amazing.
The Hidden Garden gives you comfort and you will relax here because of their beautiful plants. It is located in Katipunan St, Vigan City which is only 9 minutes drive from Calle Crisologo.
We visited many more places such as the Padre Burgos House and the Syquia Mansion Museum just off Calle Crisologo.
Our 2 days stay in Vigan city was worth it. If you are planning to visit it then don’t hesitate because this place is beautiful.
